Changelog
New features, improvements, and fixes in Friendly Office.
Last updated July 31, 2026
Choose which invoices take card payment and see who opened a document
- Turn card payment on or off for an individual invoice while you write it.
- Copy the customer-facing link for an invoice, estimate, or agreement, or open the page yourself, from the document's own page.
- Expand the opens on an invoice to see each one — when it happened and where it came from — alongside the first and last times you already saw.
- Agreements show the same activity, so you can tell whether a contract has been read before it comes back signed.
- Recording a payment by hand is limited to workspace admins; members still see the payment history and the customer's pay link.
Split workspace settings into sections and name your payment methods
- Workspace settings is organized into sections behind a sidebar, so each page loads only what it needs.
- Keep your own list of payment methods and a default, and pick from it when you record a payment.
- Downloads lead with your workspace name and end with the document's date, so files from several vendors don't collide.
- Notes keep a line free below a link card, page break, or rule, so you can keep typing after inserting one.
Add starting numbers and remember your send options
Workspaces migrating from another tool can pick up where their old numbering left off, and sending a document takes fewer clicks.
- Set a starting number for invoices, estimates, and agreements from the workspace settings page.
- Invoice and estimate numbers can also be set per document when you need a one-off.
- The send dialog remembers whether you send yourself a copy and attach the PDF, so your choices carry over to the next document.
- Emails show a preview line in the inbox that says who sent what, for how much, and when it is due.
Add cross-workspace reporter portal access
Getting into the right reporter portal no longer means hunting for the right magic link.
- Reporters who work with more than one workspace can now switch between them from the portal header.
- Team members whose confirmed email has reporter access get a one-click hand-off from the issues page.
Add a retry fallback to the sign-in challenge
- The security check on sign-in and sign-up now retries on its own if it does not load the first time.
Make link cards editable
- Link cards in project notes can be edited after they are inserted.
- Breadcrumbs are consistent across every section of the app.
Add the referral program and promote projects to a top-level hub
A big day — referrals, a real home for projects, and better handling of email that bounces.
- Share your referral link from your profile; once someone you referred has paid for three months, you earn a free month of credit.
- Projects are now a top-level section with their own hub page and rich-text notes, available to every workspace rather than only ones using issue tracking.
- Addresses that bounce or report spam are suppressed automatically, and the send flow tells you up front when a recipient is suppressed.
Handle refunds and chargebacks on paid invoices
- A refund or chargeback now reduces the amount recorded against the invoice, flips it back out of paid when it no longer covers the total, and emails the workspace.
- Select several time entries at once to act on them in bulk.
- Invoices and estimates can show a contact name alongside the business details.
- Signing up with an address that already has an account notifies the existing owner instead of creating a duplicate.
- Tightened money and number formatting across documents.
Track estimate milestones and reject payments on draft or void invoices
- Estimate milestones always add up to the estimate total, even as the estimate changes.
- Only sent invoices accept payment, so a draft or voided invoice can never be paid by mistake.
- Emails retry automatically if a delivery does not go through the first time.
Add a send card to the invoice page
- Sending an invoice now happens from a dedicated card on the invoice page, with the recipients and the message in one place.
Add estimate sharing
- Estimates can be sent to a customer the same way invoices are.
- Added emails for estimates and for payment notices.
Add a coming-soon home page
- The signed-out home page is now a lightweight holding page that loads instantly.
- Renamed "company name" to "contact" throughout, since it is as often a person as a company.
Rebuild the email templates on a shared layout
- Every outgoing email now shares one layout, so branding and spacing are consistent from invoice to reminder to receipt.
Improve payment error messages
- Payment errors now explain what went wrong and what to do about it.
Add bot protection to the account forms
- Signing in and account recovery are now protected against automated abuse.
- The app loads faster on repeat visits.
Add the public pay page and invoice duplication
- Customers can open an invoice and pay it from a public link, without an account.
- Duplicate an existing invoice to start a new one from it.
- Added a weekly digest of unbilled time that has been sitting too long.
Add invoice branding and view tracking
- Put your own logo and colors on invoices.
- See when a customer has opened an invoice you sent.
Add an audit trail to service agreements
- Signed agreements record a verifiable trail of who signed, from where, and when.
- Reworked the agreement PDF layout.
Add service agreements with signing
Write a contract, send it, and have the client sign it — without leaving the app.
- Compose an agreement in a rich-text editor, from scratch or from a reusable template.
- Placeholders fill in customer and business details automatically, and prompt for anything else.
- Clients sign from a private link; you countersign to execute.
Add estimates with milestone-to-invoice conversion
- Create an estimate, send it for approval, and convert its milestones into invoices as the work lands.
- Set a default currency, tax rate, and payment terms per workspace.
- Invoices dated in the future are labeled as scheduled rather than overdue.
- Error pages explain what happened and how to get back on track.
Switch invoice numbers to plain sequential numbers
- Invoice numbers now read 1, 2, 3 rather than 0001, 0002.
- Page headers are consistent across the app, and their buttons wrap to their own row on narrow screens.
Add report exports and recurring-invoice quota warnings
- Export any report to a file.
- A recurring invoice that would exceed your monthly email allowance warns you before it sends.
- Invoice, customer, and time-entry lists load faster.
Add recurring invoices
- Put an invoice on a schedule and have it generate and send itself.
- Customers have a proper detail page, with their invoices and activity in one place.
Add issue tracking
- Track issues against a project, with a portal where outside reporters can file and follow their own.
Add a monthly email allowance per workspace
- Each workspace has its own document-email allowance, shown before you hit it.
Add time tracking
- Log time and turn unbilled entries straight into an invoice.
- Line items can be reordered by dragging.
- Pick a color theme for the app.
Show the invoice preview as a live page
- The invoice preview now renders as part of the page instead of an embedded PDF viewer, so it is fast and readable on a phone.
Add PDF download for invoices
- Download any invoice as a PDF that matches what you see on screen.
Add two-factor authentication
- Protect your account with an authenticator app.
Add Stripe Connect and workspace deletion
- Connect your own Stripe account so invoice payments settle directly to you.
- A workspace owner can delete a workspace.
Add Google sign-in, team invites, and invoice reminders
- Sign in with Google.
- Invite teammates to a workspace and set their role.
- Send automatic reminders on invoices that are coming due or past due.
- Added a revenue chart to the dashboard.
- Add more than one email address to your account.
Add subscription billing and automatic database backups
- Subscribe, change plan, or cancel from the billing page.
- The database is backed up automatically on a schedule.
Shorten the addresses of invoices and customers
- Invoices, customers, and workspaces have short, readable web addresses — /invoices/1 rather than a long string of characters.
Add invoice email delivery with attachments
- Email an invoice to a customer and attach files to it.
Add filtering to the invoices table
- Filter invoices by customer and status, and clear a filter in one click.
- Sped up the invoice list considerably.
Add the sidebar, workspace switching, and the invoices table
- Navigate from a persistent sidebar and switch between workspaces from it.
- Browse invoices in a sortable table.
- Added confirmation prompts and in-app notifications throughout.
Add workspaces and profile settings
- Create a workspace with its own details, and manage your own profile separately.
Add sign-in and registration
- Create an account, sign in, and reset a forgotten password.
